Mike Ovshak, CFP®

President, Owner

With more than 25 years of wealth management experience, Mike is able to create personalized solutions that positively and significantly affect each of his clients' financial situations. He and his team build long-term relationships based on trust, knowledge, industry experience, and the drive to do what's best for each client given his or her unique financial condition. He works step by step with clients to determine wealth management goals; then he develops a tailor-made plan that is flexible to change with his clients' unique financial situations.

Mike is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional; holds the FINRA Series 7, 63, and 65 securities registrations through Commonwealth Financial Network®; and earned a BS from the University of Minnesota. He is a member of various professional associations, as well as a recipient of various awards and recognitions, including being recognized every year as a Chairman's level advisor with Commonwealth since 2002, making the Financial Times 400 Top Advisors list (2013)*, earning a Five Star Wealth Manager award from Mpls. St. Paul Magazine eleven times since the award's inception in 2008**, being named to Forbes' Best-in-State Wealth Advisors List (2018 and 2019)*** and is a national and local member of the Financial Planning Association (FPA) since 1990.

Mike's personal interests include spending time with his wife and sons, playing tennis, skiing, fitness training, biking, golfing, hiking, and reading financial publications. He also has enjoyed coaching his kids throughout the years in each of their organized sports, including hockey, baseball, and football.

Nancy Ovshak

Vice President, Owner

Nancy is passionate about making complex things simple. This interest led her to the role of managing the operations side of the firm. She enjoys working with our entire team to ensure our processes are designed effectively to help us provide the best level of service to our clients. She is also involved with the accounting, marketing and compliance areas of the firm.

When not at the office, she enjoys hiking, reading, and traveling. Her goal is to visit 20 National Parks in the next 20 years. She especially enjoys sharing these activities with her husband, Mike, and their three sons.

Nancy earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Minnesota – Carlson School of Management. She also holds her FINRA Series 7, 63, and 65 securities registrations through Commonwealth Financial Network.

Tyler Swanson, CFP®

Wealth Advisor

Tyler is a wealth advisor with FPS Financial. He provides comprehensive financial planning and investment advisory services to individuals and families. Tyler is passionate about connecting with people and educating them with the tools they need to accomplish their financial goals.

Tyler is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional; holds the FINRA Series 6, 7,  and 63 securities registrations through Commonwealth Financial Network®; and is a licensed insurance agent. He earned a BA from Bethel University in St. Paul and is a member of the Financial Planning Association (FPA) of Minnesota.

Tyler enjoys spending time with his wife and their son. His personal interests include playing hockey, golfing, biking, cross-country skiing, reading, and spending time at the lake.

Sabrina Sala, CFP®

Research Analyst

Sabrina has more than 15 years of experience in the financial industry, including bookkeeping, accounting, banking, and financial services. She joined the FPS team in 2015.

Sabrina is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional. She holds the FINRA Series 7 and 66 securities registrations through Commonwealth Financial Network®, a Minnesota life insurance license, and a bachelor's degree in business with an emphasis on accounting. She works closely with Mike on meeting preparation and plan implementation, as well as investment research and analysis.

Since moving to Minnesota in 2011, Sabrina enjoys exploring all that the Twin Cities have to offer!

Judy Roach

Senior Registered Service Representative

Judy has more than 30 years of experience in the financial industry and joined the FPS team in 1992.
 
Judy holds the FINRA Series 7 and 63 securities registrations through Commonwealth Financial Network®. With her knowledge and experience, she is an excellent resource for answering all of our clients' service-related questions, as well as dealing with tax-related issues and inquiries. She works closely with Mike regarding implementation of our clients' wealth management plans and is the main resource for transitioning new clients. She is an integral part of helping to ensure that each of our clients has the best possible experience with FPS.
 
More than anything, Judy enjoys spending time with her growing family, including her six grandchildren. Her other interests include cooking, exercising, gardening, and reading. She also enjoys getting away to the family cabin.

Beth Thibodeau

Registered Service Representative

Beth has more than 25 years of experience in the financial industry and joined the FPS team in 2004.

Beth holds the FINRA Series 7 and 63 securities registrations through Commonwealth Financial Network® and received her bachelor's degree from the University of St. Thomas. With her knowledge and experience, she is an excellent point of contact for clients with inquiries about their financial transactions. She plays a key role in ensuring our clients' transactions are processed efficiently and accurately.

Beth's spare time is usually spent with her husband, four children, and her first grandchild! She is also an on-call firefighter.

Lindsey Tervo

Registered Marketing Coordinator

Lindsey has more than 20 years of experience in the financial industry since joining the FPS team in 1997.

Lindsey holds the FINRA Series 7 and 63 securities registrations through Commonwealth Financial Network® and a Minnesota life insurance license. She received her bachelor's degree from the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota with a major in marketing and a minor in mathematics. She spearheads all of FPS's marketing efforts, ranging from client social and educational functions to our quarterly newsletter. Lindsey plays a key role in all of the technology areas of our office, including data security and computer workflow integration. She also works closely with Mike, assisting him with risk management plans. Having worked in various roles and capacities within FPS throughout her career, Lindsey is a valuable asset to our team and our clients by providing a holistic approach to ensuring that our clients, prospects, and strategic alliances all have memorable experiences with FPS.

Lindsey loves every moment she can spend with her husband and children. She also has a creative side that comes through when she's volunteering in her children's schools or working on projects at home.

Babs Brown

Executive Assistant

Babs has more than 20 years of experience in the financial industry since joining the FPS team in 1998.

Babs has many different roles within FPS. She plays a key role on the administrative side of meeting preparation and post-meeting workflow, maintains and updates client records, works closely with Mike regarding internal office workflow, and is one of the friendly voices you hear when you call into FPS. She is an invaluable asset to our team and our clients by providing comprehensive support and unswerving dedication.

In her spare time, Babs enjoys biking, gardening, or spending some quiet time reading a good book. She spends as much time as possible with family and friends, taking special pleasure in the company of her granddaughter.
